“The power of personal narratives as a tool for expression and transformation in the classroom”

Throughout an engaging and interactive presentation, Joan uses family photographs, correspondence from the Warsaw Ghetto, as well as authentic video and news clippings to recreate her family’s world before, during and after the Holocaust. Following the presentation the students have the opportunity to connect with their own families’ experience and express their feelings through writing and art activities.

Can I bring this presentation to my classroom? What does it cost?

Yes! Joan requests that the school buy a class set of her book My Sister’s Eyes for their library. Please contact Joan for rates.

How long does the presentation last?

Joan’s presentations vary from 20 - 30 minutes, according to the level of the class. This leaves time for a Q&A period after the presentation. Writing and art components of the lesson are at the teacher’s discretion.
