Joan Arnay Halperin : Thank you, Laura Kerr for ordering MY SISTER'S EYES. Maybe it will help you get your mind off your massive restoration after hurricane Irma for a while. How will you find a quiet place to read?
.Laura Kerr did find a place to read and here is her reaction:
"What a phenomenal story so beautifully told! I felt emotionally tied to your family and thought about the endless other stories that will never be told! You look like your mother Hala!
I loved every picture and every word. Good people exist and will prevail. You and I kind of followed each other as I was born in Sheepshead Bay. Lived between Ave X and Y. Then in '49 moved to Green Acres! And I was also an English teacher for 43 year in NY and Fl. Much in common! (Also ESOL) the picture on page 70 is just something. So I've rambled enough. Love to see you if you ever come to Fl. And can't wait for your next book!!!!
Laura Kerr : One more thing- you have kept alive the beautiful sister you never knew. Yvonne, her pictures and story will be embedded in my mind. Beautiful title for an amazing story!
Joan Arnay Halperin : Dear Laura, Thank you for your kind words. May I post them in my blog...?
Laura Kerr Of course, you have my permission to post whatever you want to!!!
Joan Arnay Halperin : PS. We lived at 2738 East 19th Street at the corner of the Belt Parkway Service Road within smelling distance of Lundy's Sea Food Restaurant. (I added Sea Food Restaurant for those few who were not from Brooklyn. ;-) .
